I'm just so fuckin' tired of pairings are this, pairings are that.

Pairings just mean "I want these two people to touch dicks in some way."

Any additional baggage is up to fandom and each additional. It's like the thing yesterday where Ron/Hermione was bashed as Problematic and Abusive and Pedophilia because she's more mature than him.

Ok? The answer is 'walk away from the thread' or 'find a way to express my feelings about this in the thread' not 'be an asshole because I think you used this word wrong.'

Pairings just mean "I want these two people to touch dicks in some way."

Yes, of course. And no one (At least in this thread) is saying 'No you can't ship that because it's wrong!' But if someone came up to me and said 'I love Hannigram, Hannibal is always looking out for Will and I wish I had a boyfriend just like him' I would be VERY CONCERNED about that person's well-being, even though I also love Hannigram. I would not tell them 'You can't ship that, you're doing it wrong' but I WOULD want to talk to them about how Hannibal is not a nice man and they should not date him IRL. That's all that's going on here.

Any additional baggage is up to fandom and each additional. It's like the thing yesterday where Ron/Hermione was bashed as Problematic and Abusive and Pedophilia because she's more mature than him.

What I remember from yesterday was that people were talking about how people USED to bash Ron/Hermione for that, and we all thought it was stupid. Was there something I missed?

On the Ron/Hermione thing just that yeah, everyone used to bash them for that and it was stupid. And now there's new pairings to bash for that and it's all stupid.

I mean if someone writes a fic where Rapunzel locks up Flynn and rapes him and tortures him, does that make the pairing problematic? what if people really love it and get off on it? Are they problematic?

Ok, so now people are writing a coffeeshop AU where Snape and Hermione are both college students and fall in love and it's sappy and mushy and sweet. Is that problematic? I mean probably OOC sure, but if people like it and get off on it? Are they problematic?

Policing fandom with buzzwords and concern trolling just gets really really old really fast. Some people want xenokink egg depositing dubcon from their favorite characters, and some people want to see hated enemies as friends falling in love over coffee. It's weird and wonderful.

I have no idea if you are Anon I Replied To or not because this is everything I've been saying, which is that liking a ship, dark or not, written dark or not, is not bad.

How tf was Ron/Hermione bashed as pedophilia, I don't think even the nuttiest anti-shipper would make that argument fly?
