I didn't play Gen IV, so I don't know much about her, but I hate Garchomp with a passion so I'm not sure I'm missing much. I did like Diantha enough in XY, but found her very shallow and too perfect/beautiful/sPEcIal in the anime.

Why do you hate Garchomp?

(I don't have strong feelings about it one way or another though I wish Flygon got half the love Garchomp gets but I'm curious as to why you hate it)

Late reply is late but oh well. I just find Garchomp so ugly, and way overpowered to boot, which has not gotten better since Mega evolution was introduced. I love Flygon too and I think it would have benefited from Mega a lot more than Garchomp tbh.

I think Garchomp's (non-Mega) design is p. cool but then I think a lot of Pokemon look cool including a lot of my not-faves. Agree with you 1000% about Flygon. Game Freak definitely did a lot of fan-pandering with the first few Megas they introduced and I can see why they did from a marketing standpoint, but I do think it's a mechanic that I wish they'd reserve more for the Pokemon that really need them. :|

Anime Cynthia had the same issue. She was presented as this flawless person despite being openly hypocritical and even mocking people who had just suffered a massive personal loss.
