I've yet to outright dislike an Ace Attorney game, so I'm willing to see where this goes.

It kinda turned me off how they brought back mias and Mayas (? Localization names... not sure) mother only to have her killed off like that! I kept expecting a twist because it seemed just too brutal.

I've never played AA5 onwards, and will probably can't for the foreseeable future, so the only thing I can do is stare enviously and read fic and look up art of Nick and Miles being domestic as fuck.

At least there's the anime for me to look forward to... ;-;

Oo, I like this art! Phoenix looks fantastic, too.

I haven't played the last few games though, and at this point it seems unlikely I'll catch up, so I guess I should just watch let's plays or whatever. They're fun (unique, too) games and I do kind of miss them.

AA1-AA4 (and AAvPL) has a different main writer from AA:I onwards. I miss the old writing style too but at least Shu Takumi will be back for the anime.

Eh I kinda know what you mean. Investigations was definitely mediocre, and while I do think DD managed to pull it back, it just wasn't as good as the previous games. PL v AA was a disappointment to me too, I felt like they'd accidentally put together all the bad parts of each series than all the good parts. I will give this game a chance though. I've been playing these games too long to forsake it. I just wish we didn't have so many attorneys now. Phoenix is awesome and Apollo is great, but then throw in Athena and DD was a clusterfluff of protagonists and POVs...
