It just went on for too long. That's always the problem with shows. The longer they go on the more everyone becomes a parody of themselves. And Brain had the most things to exaggerate so he got the brunt of it unfortunately.

I feel like the show would've benefited if they'd focused more on the cases rather than the characters' personal lives. Or at least showed more how Brian's eccentricities and talents helped rather than making him look like a basketcase.
