I don't dispute that eating healthy is hard when you don't have money, but plenty of people in the U.S. have enough money for food, they're not just buying/eating vegetables.

Sorry, I'm not sure about US veggie prices, but aren't veggies kind of the cheaper option when buying fresh food? In my country, just about everything else is more expensive than veggies...

Depends on where in the U.S., what sort of vegetable, and whether you're talking fresh veg vs. canned/frozen. Canned/frozen can be relatively cheap. Fresh veg... not necessarily.
