I get that, I warmed up to him pretty quick but I can see how it could take longer because compared to Sherlock and even Joan he's not quite as in your face, that and they didn't give him as much screen-time in season 1.

The zebra episode was wonderful and I loved it so much, it was just really nice to see them working together and Marcus trying to get Sherlock to call him by his first name. :3

Yeah they've been building on their friendship slowly but in a nice way, they wouldn't have been best buds at the first interaction, Sherlock is a bit too abrasive for that and Marcus didn't get him back then, but it's developed over the seasons from mutual trust and respect. It's not the most usual friendship in the world but I love it.
