I like Clyde. I watched the behind-the-scenes stuff hoping for info on him but they had a spoof-thing instead, which didn't interest me.

I have other animals that I get really invested in. There were episodes of POI where I wanted to know where Bear was. I like when animals are sprinkled in, rather than a huge part of the show. And when they're not mentioned, I definitely look for them.

Turtles have pretty long life-spans though, don't they? I wouldn't worry about Clyde. He's probably fine.

Clyde's great. According to the Elementary wiki, Clyde is played by two Russian tortoises who are rotated out in each take.

Wasn't there an episode where they tied a balloon to him so he wouldn't get lost?
