Uh? It's patriotic even without the context?

"Bless my homeland forever" isn't patriotic?

"Blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow, bloom and grow forever" isn't obviously about Austria's people/culture/land, not just the flower?

Patriotic =/= jingoistic or warlike.

Hey, I love this song, and I freaking ADORE The Sound Of Music. You're preaching to the choir here.

But other anon didn't seem to consider it patriotic despite that line, so I thought maybe the song having been created specifically for the story (as opposed to being an actual patriotic anthem created for the purpose of being patriotic) nullified the patriotism of it for them.

I don't know. Maybe trying asking them.
