Wasted potential kind of describes most of the Supernatural villains/main arcs, especially in the later seasons.

There have been a lot of interesting concepts and sometimes really good finales/seasons starters that just winded up being nothing. The angels falling, Demon Dean, the leviathans, etc etc etc could have been so much better if they had been explored to their full potential.

The reason why they don't follow through on that stuff is that it would take the focus from Sam and Dean and/or keep them apart for too long. I'm not saying that's a good thing but that's how the show is structured so it's just something one has to accept to watch the show.

I think the queen of all wasted potential was probably Eve, though.
