Where do they say that? They said that they realized they weren't really shipping since they don't like seeing the characters together sexually.

No where did they say anything about other people considering relationships valid or not.

It is - I would argue - completely obvious from context that they're talking about the way that fandom interacts with ships is centered on sex.

Which is a pretty true observation, I think.

And, like, not to mention that they talk about doing shipping in a non-sexual way themselves. Come on man.

The only thing that seems obvious to me is that the OP thinks the only valid ships are sexual ships--and that seems to be the way many other people interpreted it too, if you take a look at how many people are telling OP they can ship non-sexual relationships.

And, like, not to mention that they talk about doing shipping in a non-sexual way themselves.

And go on to say their shipping is "not real" because it lacks sex. Which is invalidating to non-sexual ships and relationships.

They are made to feel it isn't real because of their experiences in fandom. FANDOM is making them feel like they can't join in because they don't ship it sexually. They are going "people are seeing it this way, but I don't, and I feel insecure about it because I want to fit in".

Besides, even if they believe their shipping isn't real, they do not seem to be trying to put other ships down? The way they're talking about it just makes them seem naive about how they approach ships and fandom, they're not trying to put their foot down about how ships should be viewed. They just don't know any better - they should be educated about it instead of judged.

FWIW, I agree with your interpretation.

I read it as they have some misconceptions about what constitutes shipping (maybe they're new to fandom), and are maybe primarily in fandoms that put a high emphasis on sex so fandom is making them feel like their ships aren't real/valid because they aren't sexual, not that they personally feel non-sexual relationships aren't valid.
