Maybe these people had parents who let them do whatever the hell they wanted and they're not used to the idea of people actively enforcing rules for them.

Thus the "OMG you're being suuuuuuuch a dictator" reaction we've been seeing.

Could be. Some people grow up without ever being told no, or having their bad behavior curbed in any way. It fosters a huge sense of entitlement, which makes it even more ironic that they're complaining about other people being "special snowflakes" for not putting up with the bad behavior.
