For me, it wasn't necessarily the arc of season nine. It was Sam. He became a truly atrocious character and I couldn't stomach watching his scenes anymore. But I thought the Mark of Cain arc was fairly interesting and I loved Abbadon so I don't understand the hate toward those. If Sam had somehow left the show season nine probably would have ended up being my favorite season.
