(Anonymous) 2016-03-06 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)While I haven't given up in hoping to see more black/brown/etc people in the media, and I tend to write OCs in my fic that are of color, you gotta do you and enjoy what you're consuming.
(I realize you may be speaking about a whole spectrum of issues regarding race in fandom & media, and I'm only addressing a fairly surface issue)

TBH, I think so much many discussions about race are...well, I don't know how to put it, but they start off with the wrong premise to begin with? Like, say, recent wank over not casting an Asian guy for Iron Fist (who is canonically white), instead of actually being invested in new characters or bringing characters that already exist to the forefront.
But I digress.
Ultimately, in fiction, I want to watch or read a good story with interesting characters...not something that scores diversity points. (To clarify, diversity is good, but I'm not going to watch a shitty show because it's diverse, or vice versa).

(Anonymous) 2016-03-06 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)I guess what I'm saying is that it's about the crowd you're in. I like F!S because it'd populated by fairly liberal people who are mature enough to not go overboard/be overenthusiastic in the way that tumblr often does.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-07 12:17 am (UTC)(link)I mean say what you will about tumblr and F!S but at least they actually care about these issues. (for the most part anyway)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-07 01:53 am (UTC)(link)I do think an aunt of mine said that she felt the photos of Zac and Georgina were creepy, but I didn't see the creepiness. About the only reason to consider them creepy is if you're a perv who can't see photos of children shirtless from the waist up without sexualizing them.
