There was a fan-made Hunt for Gollum that was good (for fanmade). And I liked Born of Hope, so I agree with wanting more movies about Aragorn and other characters set in that time frame.

But after Hobbit, I know I would absolutely hate anything PJ's people did. The parts of the Hobbit that were the worst were the things that they added to it, and they'd have to basically start from scratch for this kind of movie. It would be worse than the Hobbit.

I'm feeling the same with regards to the Silm now too.

I have to agree with you. I may have liked the first Hobbit movie, but o=after the second two, I don't trust PJ with them, no matter where the worst parts came from (I know there was executive meddling, but there would be executive meddling if he made the Silm too).
