In my family, it depends on the person. My mom, sister, and I all keep our shoes in our bedrooms, but my dad, brother, and uncle take them off in the closet. I keep my shoes in my room because if I left them at the entrance, my dad and brother have no respect for my shoes and get them literally covered in mud because they both work in construction.

To each their own.
