I'm not sure this is true. While I agree that fewer roles require male actors to be naked, I think male actors tend to be praised for going naked, too. Most recently Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool.

Male actors aren't expected to get naked the way female actors are, though.

I'm not sure I agree the expectation itself is different. It's that more scripts or directors envision naked female actresses. If a role required a naked actor I have no reason to believe the pressure wouldn't be more or less the same.

I cannot think of one actress who has earned respect by going nude. She'll earn press, sure. Everyone earns press by going nude, but that's it. I think nudity often has the opposite effect.
