Re: Do Americans really not take off their shoes in the house?

Best I can tell from this thread, it's the Americans who don't keep their floors clean who prefer to keep their shoes on in the house. The rest of us sweet and then air out our toes.

As an American that's been my experience. People with the grossest houses and nastiest floors wear shoes inside. People with clean houses don't. Could it be a coincidence or is there some kind of correlation here? who knows.

Or not. Sheesh. Way to be judgy. My floors are clean, I wear my shoes to my room and change into my slippers there. There's nowhere near y front door to keep shoes that wouldn't be in the way or look really stupid, and the only time i take them off there is when it's wet/snowy and I don't want to track water or snow all over my hardwood.

But sorry, anon, my floors are not nasty nor is my house gross. Shoes just do not get that dirty when you're not diggin' ditches for a living.

Seriously. I really have to wonder what all these people are doing that their shoes get so nasty because mine certainly don't, and I don't have a car so that means I walk everywhere.

Also, why do you care if your floor gets some dirt on it? Unless you're rolling around on it or something I can't see why it matters.

Right? It's baffling. My shoes are never *covered in mud* or dog poo or anything else. I don't put them up on the furniture or anything but i *also* don't leave tracks as i walk across the floor.

I think that F!S, they name is Hyperbole.

That comment makes me grumpy. My name used to be Hyperbole before I changed it to Mimi.

Hyperbole the Great.

Well, actually, I also spent a while as Majin Baka Hentai (and still have that on FFN), then started using Mimi Sardinia not long before I got into Final Fantasy, around the end of '04. I've been Mimi longer than any of my other IDs (except the aforementioned FFN profile).

I can't even remember the last time I stepped in dog poo. It was literally years ago.

We have a dog, she poos in the yard, and I leave it for a bit so it's not so, well...squishy (hard to pick up).

And i still *do not step in dog poo*.
