Re: Do Americans really not take off their shoes in the house?

I always take my shoes off when I'm inside my own house. My family usually wears slippers/socks of some sort inside.

But we don't always take them off right at the door. We'll walk around the kitchen with them on if we're bringing in groceries or eating breakfast before we leave or w/e. But our floors are hardwood so they wipe down pretty easy.

Going to a friends house I follow their lead. If they take their shoes off, I will. If they're walking around with their shoes on, I'll leave mine on too.
