Re: How do I tag/warn for this?

So I've got this fic I'm working on. The POV character (male) is restrained and tortured by a female character. As part of it she fondles him.

This is sexual assault, and I'm going to warn for rape/non-con on AO3. I was wondering if I should be more specific, maybe something like "non-penetrative sexual assault"?

Isn't sexual assault by definition non-penetrative?

I think that's a good idea, yeah - more for your fic's sake than for your readers'. Because there will undoubtedly be some people out there who will not read it if they think it involves penetrative sexual assault, but will have no problem reading it if they know there's no penetration.

Maybe personally I'd prefer the detail that you give in your first paragraph. Your rape/non-con warning could come with an addendum of "clearer but spoilery warning at the end of the fic" - or hidden or whatever if you can do the coding for that - and then you put "char x is fondled by char y as part of torture" somewhere else, for the people who want to know what to expect. [Or you don't even have to list the characters, just the acts to warn for.]

seconding that idea. all these crazy specific warnings (and tags. stupid AO3) really fuck up my reading experience.
