TV Cartoons
(Anonymous) 2016-03-09 12:32 am (UTC)(link)Re: TV Cartoons
I think an Animated Harry Potter tv show would be great.
Weirdly, we were having this discussion on Facebook the other day. Someone brought up Ian McDiarmiad and wondered if he would fit a Tolkien role. And I said that while he doesn't look the part, if they ever did an animated Silmarillion he'd be perfect for the voice of Melkor. Now, I don't actually want this to happen. Ever. But still the idea is amusing.

Re: TV Cartoons
I've long wanted to see a show version of The Wheel of Time, and I'm torn between whether I want it to be animated or live-action. Animated it would be something AtlA-esque, but a bit more mature. I think I'd enjoy that.
As for one that would be more of a kids' cartoon? (Besides Pokémon? I mean I wish they'd do a really good reboot of that, but eh...) Well, Homestuck could be really good! But they'd have to alter a lot of the plot points to make it kid-appropriate. Now that I think of it, though, a spinoff cartoon based on the Homestuck universe(s) and characters could be really fun!

I know it's highly unlikely, but god damn if it isn't practically that already, just played way too serious for it's own good.

So I'd love to see MacMillan and Price make "appearances", but only as Baseplate. And I'd similarly love to see Sandman or Foley make appearances but only as Overlord.
It's a nice nod to the fans without having to put up with whining about why so-and-so isn't in the series.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-09 01:12 am (UTC)(link)I know they sort of did an animated Ultra Agents web series but I'd love a more realized one. Reading the back histories, I think there'd be some great fun stories. Of course, looking at other Lego properties, it would probably be aimed too young for me to enjoy.
I thought the Supernatural Anime and Hellboy cartoons were decent, so it would be great if there was a horror cartoon series of some sort.
Re: TV Cartoons
(Anonymous) 2016-03-09 01:26 am (UTC)(link)I don't think it's possible to continue the show with the live action cast anymore, but I think the series would be best continued in animated form. Since there are already comics, it wouldn't even be that far reaching, and I think the style of the show would lend itself well to a cartoon adaptation.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-09 08:36 am (UTC)(link)Our four heroes are:
Rowan Rafferty, from Gryffindor. Her slight, pixieish build belies her utter dedication to finding crazy adventures and jumping into them with both feet. Her ability to extricate herself from the resulting chaos is extraordinary. She’s a bit like one of those fearless, aggressive little terriers that seems unaware of the fact that it’s tiny and vulnerable. She has very little concept of personal safety, and the idea of looking before one leaps is quite alien to her.
Lewis LeStrange (no relation), from Ravenclaw. He's tall, strong, square-jawed, really doesn't look like a stereotypical nerd. Boy oh boy, is he a nerd, though. He never uses the obvious spell for a situation if there’s a more obscure, difficult, or oblique spell he can use, and there usually is. His head is a huge warehouse of obscure trivia, and he considers studying almost a sacrament. He doesn’t like to approach anything without carefully researching and studying it first; this works quite well some of the time, but other times it leaves him paralyzed too long. He’s smart enough to be well skeptical of authority; he won’t obey anyone just because he’s supposed to--he wants a good reason first. If you don’t give him a good reason, you’ll find him immovable, safe in a tower of impregnable logic and not impressed with your bullshit.
Belinda "Bea" Babcock, from Hufflepuff. A little plainer and thicker-set than Rowan, she greets everything in life with the same mild, benign interest. She is absolutely and completely without fear, but not in the bold-and-dashing way; she just doesn’t ever get rattled or thrown off her stride. If a full-grown dragon popped out of a shoebox at her, she might evince moderate surprise, but that’s as much as you’re going to get. She carries a small shoulder bag most of the time; it is much, much bigger on the inside than the outside, and she keeps it full of esoteric contingency plans. Not obviously useful things, but a bizarre collection of left-handed corkscrews, bottles of thestral repellent, and even weirder things. She loves adventure as much as Rowan does, she just doesn't talk about it. There's a lot going on under her surface.
Isaac "Zack" Farringer, from Slytherin. You know how much fun it is being a Muggle-born Slytherin? Not much. Zack protects himself with a thick layer of sarcasm and detachment that's not easy to penetrate. He’s frequently rude, often lazy, slipshod and dishonest in his schoolwork, and lord help us, startlingly cool. His pointed, foxy face is usually wearing a smirk, and he knows girls look at him when he passes by. Under all this, he’s pretty lonely and often scared, but he’d walk through hell rather than let himself be vulnerable. He’s a decent guy at his core, he just feels like we’re all on our own in the world, and you’ve gotta be tough to make it. For all his lazy schoolwork, he’s a talented and creative wizard. He figures authority are mostly punks and rules are for suckers.
In the first episode, our heroes meet up in detention, and uncover a clue to one of the lost treasures of Hogwarts: the Marauder's Map. Working together, they go on a hunt for it. Opposing them is Adelbert Lindegard, the Divination professor. He's a sadistic, petty-minded bastard who hates children, but he's a BRILLIANT seer, which makes it very hard to stay one step ahead of him. Our heroes outwit him in the end, though, and take possession of the Map. They decide to use it to see what else is lost in the forgotten corners of this school, and that's the series.
Various plots will involve the conflict between Lewis's cautious study-everything-first style and Rowan's hellbent feckless energy. They're each wrong some of the time. Zack's devious dishonesty and Bea's laconic determination are also both sometimes assets and sometimes liabilities. Together they'll uncover secrets like the Sunken Hall, the house-elf caverns, and the perpetual classroom, while dealing with villains like Professor Lindegard and the unspeakable evil of the Nineteenth Ghost.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-09 01:43 am (UTC)(link)Chronicles of Crestomanci would be great too. Maybe something kind of Doctor Who like focusing on all the worlds Crestomanci is called to.

Oh, and now that I'm really thinking about it, I think Syfy's now-defunct Haven would translate to animation pretty spectacularly.
