I could see either? He has both courage and ambition. I think, though, he values ambition a little more. So I'd lean towards Slytherin.

Going by what little I know of HP, I'm gonna have to say Cruz is Slytherin, through and through.

He's too desperate to be Slytherin, and not enough subtlety.

She's intelligent and works hard regardless of whether you like her or hate her, and relies on polls and statistics and research about what's popular to set and validate her stances on issues

Hmm. All politicians are motivated by ambition, so if I were the Sorting Hat I'd be tempted to chuck them all into Slytherin by default.

However, let's assume that some of them will argue to be put into another house. Hilary's a Ravenclaw. So's Obama. So's Al Gore. All the policy wonks go into Ravenclaw.

Elizabeth Warren's Hufflepuff. Dubya's the type of Hufflepuff that always picks up the tab, but is only passing his classes because his friends let him copy off their scrolls. Joe Biden's Hufflepuff. Bobby Jindal wants to be a Hufflepuff pretty badly, so he'd probably get in.

Sanders and Trump are both Gryffindor, but at opposite ends of the scale.

Cruz and Rubio are Slytherin, Mitt Romney's Slytherin, Chuck Schumer is probably Slytherin, Debbie Wasserman Schultz is Slytherin.

Jeb Bush is a squib.
