Mrs. Don Draper speaks the truth. As a professor, I can tell you that short, sweet, and honest are the best ways to approach any issues you might be having in a class. When students have issues, I'll work with them. If they spend more time making up an excuse than they did working on their assignment, I don't cut them too much slack. But just so you know, most students have real issues, and teachers will work with that.

Hopefully my professor feels the same way! I've sent the assignment and the mail now, so now I'm just going to have to wait and see.
