From the POV of someone who has a lot of time online (disability pension, so I don't have to work), if they are being really passive-aggressive in their disappointment, then I think those friends are being unreasonable to expect you to be able to spend hours in RP after a day's work.

I try to stay flexible of my RP partner's work and family, so I think people who cannot also do so need to learn something, or find something else to do, like fanfic or an offline game.
