The Triggering
(Anonymous) 2016-03-10 12:19 am (UTC)(link)It's basically the Twitter equivalent of a twelve-year-old getting pissed and yelling a curse word at an adult, assuming that they'll be utterly shocked by how badass and edgy and adult he is.
It's just typical, not very witty or incisive insults, that these people post 24/7 the rest of the year: "White people have higher IQ than black people," "poor people just don't work hard enough!," "feminists are fat" and so on. But they gave it a hashtag and now they think people are going to be "triggered" by their crap, and they're posting gifs of people crying to celebrate how upset they made everyone.
But the dumbest thing is, don't they realize that even if someone WOULD be triggered by the stuff they post (and I seriously doubt anyone would be), they GAVE IT A HASHTAG which basically serves as a "trigger warning" so people can avoid it!
It kind of depresses me how utterly stupid people are.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-10 02:27 am (UTC)(link)I agree that there are very reasonable critics of SJW stuff out there but in terms of people who are visibly waving the anti-SJW flag, I don't think it's really true.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-10 03:05 am (UTC)(link)and honestly while i don't like the extreme ends of the sj sphere on tumblr the moderates are a lot more tolerable than any anti-sj i've ever come across.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-10 06:46 am (UTC)(link)Non-sjws are the sane majority, who don't feel the need to wear it like a fucking badge when we can just ignore the tumblrina crowd and go on about our day.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-10 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)Is harassment a problem on Twitter? Yes! But who decides what constitutes harassment in an age when students are "triggered" by guest speakers at universities? Don't you see that the problem with censorship is that one day YOUR ideas might be considered the wrong ideas by those paying for the servers?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-10 01:57 am (UTC)(link)And is this really that big of a deal? I've seen zero coverage by any mainstream media outlets; just a bunch of right-wing websites going LOL WE TAKIN OVER TWITTUR and some stuff on The Mary Sue and We Hunted The Mammoth. It seems like every time the MRA/Alt Right tries to prove how awesome and powerful they are it just backfires, like the MM:FR and TFA boycotts.
