I wouldn't call it an assumption if it's based on some kind of actual evidence. She didn't walk into the party and assume this guy was going to make an assumption about her, she observed the way he talked to her and suspected he assumed that he knew more about a topic he knew she was interested in than she did because that's the attitude he was taking. Even if it is an assumption, not all assumptions are equal. He had no reason to assume she needed a topic that he *knew* she was interested in explained to her, whereas she had reason to think he was making an assumption.
