I'm a big fan of both boys, don't really have much bias either way, but I disagree with this secret. Sam's addiction did a lot of damage to his relationship with his brother (not to mention the ENTIRE WORLD). It sucks for Sam that he didn't have a good support system to help him get through it and recover.

BUT.

The person he (arguably) hurt worst in the course of his addiction does not OWE Sam ANYTHING. It's not Dean's responsibility to make Sam feel okay about it, to push his own feelings down and pretend he wasn't hurt so Sam can feel better.

Not to say that the way he handled it was perfect, because it wasn't. (The image of Sam being tied down in the panic room in the middle of agonizing withdrawals is still pretty upsetting). But Dean's not responsible for Sam's feelings in this case, when he's been pretty badly hurt himself BY SAM.

Also... the image used for this secret is NOT ACTUALLY DEAN. It's a hallucination Sam has while in withdrawals. If the mean stuff "Dean" says to Sam in this scene is supposed to be evidence for your case, it's not, because this isn't Dean looming over Sam and saying all kinds of cruel crap. It's Sam's own mind.
