Re: Mansplaining
(Anonymous) 2016-03-11 04:41 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, but Neil Degrasse Tyson knows more about science because he's a highly educated and experienced scientist, not because he's a man. Him explaining something you don't know to you wouldn't be mansplaining.
If Neil Degrasse Tyson was a woman, and some schlub undergrad decided they had to explain her a thing because everyone knows women are bad at science, that would be mansplaining. (And is unfortunately pretty common in the scientific community, particularly chemistry and physics.)
