tbh unless the character is a modern 20-something college student I'd just write them as asexual but not label them as such. I might not even include the "asexual character" tag if it was on Ao3.

It's not like it's something that even needs to be addressed, most of the time? Just have them say "I don't have much of a sex drive" or "I'm not very interested in sex" or something and leave it at that. Hell, you can write epic sweeping romances, and just totally skip the sex scenes and call it good.

Mostly I feel like (and I say this as an ace person) it's wildly OOC for 99% of characters to even know what "asexuality" IS. Let alone for them to feel the need to explain it to people in a fanfic.
