So you are conveniently forgetting all the possesed people he killed by trying to exorcise them with his powers? Because they clearly say that "I've managed to keep some alive", meaning that not everyone survived the experience.

And since he had been practicing for longer than the season... yeah, I believe he killed a lot more people than the ones he saved.
