Remember that if you watch Danish Girl you're CIS SCUM for supporting a movie where a pre-everything trans women is played by a cis man.

nayrt but this is kind of a strange issue to me. Well, I mean, I get both sides. I absolutely support trans people getting trans roles - goodness knows it's hard enough for them to get roles as it is.

But a pre-transition trans person? I mean, absolutely anyone, just by looking at them, could be trans. It's like saying only gay actors should get to play gay characters (well, some people do say that I guess). In that case it really just comes down to the acting ability of a certain actor. It's not something like race.

It's also idiotic in this specific case, because while yes, NOWADAYS you can argue trans women can be indistinguishable from cis women, it very much was not the case in the time that Danish girl is set, which as at the very, very beginning of "hey maybe we can change bodies," so having a male play it makes sense.

I did like it in the Devil's Whore when the lady of the hour dresses as a man.

I think She's the Man is an update of Twelfth Night.

Yup, it's Twelfth Night.

For the OP, you can check out the Globe production of Twelfth Night where Stephen Fry plays Malvolio. It's quite interesting, and all the parts are played my men like in Elizabethan times.

As for Danish girl...I saw it a while ago, and I find it...a strange movie, but I'd rather let you see it spoiler-free.
