Man, I wanted so badly to like him. I ADORE Lee Pace, and Thranduil is one of my favorite characters ever but it was just so bad. They made him the complete opposite of who Thranduil is. And they didn't make the character himself internally consistent. Ugh! I cringe every time he's on screen.

Now, if Lee Pace had played Thingol - yes, please!

(Though, I would've loved to see Lee Pace play real Thranduil. He's a complicated character; it would've been awesome to see the different layers to him, rather than the one-note villain they had in the movies.)

Was he an one-note villain? I thought he was a bit underdeveloped, but still layered...

Of course, I haven't read the books yet, so what do I know.
