I agree about liking the design - but the character was such an asshole. Which was fine, I don't really mind that they made him an asshole, but the movies were a trainwreck for lots of reasons. Still, visually he makes a great elf.

I was really annoyed that they left out some of the explanation, even from the Extended Edition. If your going to change his character and make him an ass, at least balance it out by having the stuff about his wife and the reasons you've said in interviews for why he's such an ass.
