Not necessarily the best. But I would say seasons 5 and 6 of Deep Space Nine were among the best seasons and had some amazing episodes. And season 7 was very good too.

It's been a while for me, but I personally wasn't a fan of the whole Emissary thing. And i seem to recall that was mostly later seasons, so that might slightly cloud memories of it.

Ah, okay. I always loved that part because the idea of Sisco balancing being a captain and the Emmisary was interesting. And also I felt like DS9 was really respectful of religion and science together and different perspectives on things. The Bajorans had their religion and worshiped the Prophets, but at the same time the Prophets were these aliens and there was a scientific explanation.

DS9 is another show that went 7 seasons that I adore (and fwiw I agree 100% with the way they handled religion and spirituality from 1x01).

I disliked how they handled Dukat in the last season. It just seemed terribly OTT and OOC. He had been a GREAT complex villain before. I didn't much care for how it ended for all the characters but that's probably my biggest complaint. But compared to S6 it had a lot to live up to. There wasn't any way you could end it in S6 though.

Season 6 is probably one of my favorites, especially "In the Pale Moonlight." That is up there with some eps of Babylon 5 for best tv eps ever for me. I haven't seen it in years but it still gives me chills when I re-watched a clip from the end. Just, damn.
