ehhh. it was 2002-2005-ish so a little over 10 years. most people involved are a generation older than current fandom. if you read some of the fanlore entries on zines and zine fanfic, there are absolutely echos of current fandom all the way back to 70's. tangentially related, but i was reading victorian porn from fucking 1891 and there was mention of self-lubricating assholes, so, you know, nothing new under the sun and all that.
