Lifestyle blogs NOT based in New York

(Anonymous) 2016-03-13 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a weakness for lifestyle blogs. They're like the internet equivalent of reality shows on the Learning Channel, but with a higher chance that I'll learn something.

However, I get really tired of New York-based bloogers, because they're always all "LOL, New York, amirite?" Living in New York, dating in New York, parenting in New York... not that nothing there is applicable to people living elsewhere, but New York sounds like a pretty unique place and not at all like any of the cities I've lived in, so the "LOL, you know how it is" attitude gets kind of annoying, both because I DON'T know how it is and because New York isn't really a universal example any more than anywhere else.

Searching for things like "lifestyle blogs not in New York" just gives me results like "The Nine Best New York Lifestyle Blogs" because Google doesn't think the "not" is important, I guess. I tried searching for blogger in my city and found nothing current.

So, rec me lifestyle blogs! I don't care what city, town, or rural area, or even what continent, as long as it's not New York.

put a minus sign in front new york in your search and you should get results without new york

ex: lifestyle blogs -"new york"

make sure you put new york in quotation marks, otherwise it'll search for things with york in it without the new

If you want one that's more mom-focused (which, personally, is my lifestyle blog weakness because I don't have kids and therefore so much of it doesn't apply to me and I don't feel the need to go out and buy everything featured on the site), I like the LA-based happilyevaafter.com. It's run by Eva Amurri, Susan Sarandon's daughter, and there are good recipes and outfit posts. Her kid is super-cute, too.

That one looks pretty good. I don't have kids either, but I don't mind parenting stuff as long as that's not all the blog is about (and as long as the blogger isn't really militantly "my way is the only way, everyone else is a bad parent.")

Why don't you think of some hip non-New York cities with styles you might like and put their names in the search box instead?

Like, I literally just tried Google "lifestyle blogs Chicago" and netted pages of results. What city do you live in? If it doesn't get results, search for bigger metropolises that are similar.
