wow...interesting...

definitely raised my eyebrows.

I found it interesting that all the comments were so positive. Based on the note at the top of the page I wonder if critical comments (which were alluded to in the positive ones) were deleted. That bugs me as much as the poem itself. More, even, since I don't know how I feel about the poem. Like I don't think there's anything wrong with being sympathetic to people who do bad things by recognizing that they're still people, but it leans on sounding like a justification - "I did bad things because I'm fucked up, and that means I'm not actually responsible" - and that sort of skeeved me out about it

Well, it's her blog, so the people who are regularly reading and commenting on it are her fans. The critical response she got for the poem was elsewhere on the internet. IIRC at the time it seemed a touch insensitive in the aftermath of a terrorist attack for an artist (who has a reputation for misusing things in the name of publicity) to announce that oh, she's written a poem about the bomber... but it's kinda sorta about her as well.

And not gonna lie, she got a lot of heat for that "you don’t know how many vietnamese soft rolls to order" line. That was pretty WTF.

Hmm. Maybe. It seems odd that people would go to her blog to talk about those critical responses rather than reply to them elsewhere while at the same time none of the people who had criticisms chose to voice them on her blog. It uses the Disqus commenting system which many people already have an account for so it's not like you'd have to sign up for an Amanda Palmer Blog Account to comment there.

Am I missing something really obvious here? That doesn't ping me as being particularly bad...is that an allusion to something? Some background about the bomber I forgot or didn't read in the first place?

Also a lot of people did mention that they thought it sounded like it was about her. Why would she want to write a poem essentially making people think she relates to a terrorist? Does this fall under the category of "no such thing as bad publicity"?
