OP isn't implying there are better books, OP is implying that they expected Rickman to have better taste in books. That's why everyone is saying "liking HP isn't bad taste" - because it is a direct response to what OP is saying.

Er, no. If the OP had said that they expected Rickman to have good taste, then you'd be correct that the secret implies that liking HP is in bad taste. But that's not what the secret says.

When you say that something is better than something else, you're making a quality judgment in relative terms, not absolutes. Let's say you have two windowless rooms that are pitch black. Look at it this way. Winning the lottery and getting $10K is great, right? But winning the lottery and getting $100K is arguably better. Does that mean the $10K is bad? Of course not. It's just not as good as winning $100K.

You (and to be fair, quite a lot of other people in this thread) seem to be having a tough time understanding this.

Er, yes. When someone says "I expected xyz to have better taste," there's an implicit criticism. You seem to be having a tough time understanding basic English.
