(Un?)fortunately for me, it's just porn. M/M porn, to be specific. I love it too, reading and writing it, so I can't judge, but my most popular oneshots (by like 5000 hits in the same pairing) are the PWP ones.

Even with porn there can be some interesting stuff to be gleaned. Like I've noticed some of the fics with rarer kinks getting tons of hits, and I suspect it's people that aren't even familiar with the fandom reading the fics just because they have that kink.

It wouldn't have occurred to me if I hadn't seen comments from people that had obviously never seen the show.

Just getting some insight into what kinks bring more readers in is fascinating.

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure the same thing is happening for those fics too. The only time I write PWP is for really specific kinks and to be fair I have searched out kinks on AO3 for fandoms I know nothing about. Hey, it's PWP.

That being said, I'm forever amazed the beastiality (noncon, proper hardcore) fic is the one that's consistently the most popular. Only by a difference of a couple hundred hits (this is before I installed the script) but still.........
