Daemons don't need to be fed? (I read these books probably a decade ago)

I wonder how they claim that works...I need to re-read these books. (I have not seen the movie or read any fanfic, just the trilogy, a long time ago)

I'm inclined to say a snake, but didn't that imply evilness in the books? :/

Maybe a badger? I feel like that would fit me.

Wolves are my favorite animal but that sounds so cliche :/

That's just silly, snakes are no more evil than any other creature. Some places snakes are seen as protection and wisdom.

I think it would make sense for the daemon to represent how you see a creature. So if you saw cats as horrible conniving deceitful selfish creatures, and you yourself were that, you could get a cat. But if you saw them as independent, neutral and adaptable but you were not - you would not get a cat.

No I totally agree with you, but I think the story didn't portray them that way. The only guy who had a snake was one of the villains, right? And I felt like part of the narrative was the implication that that's why he had a snake BUT again it's been about a decade since I've read them so I could be totally off base about that.

I personally love snakes and I don't think they're evil any more than any other animal (which is to say, they're not).

I don't really know if I'd characterize them in any particular way, though. I guess most snakes are pretty solitary, but a pretty big proportion of animals are solitary when it comes down to it. And they eat every few weeks? And they're pretty. IDK They're good at sneaking and very quiet. For the most part that doesn't fit my personality at all...I just love snakes.
