It sounds like you (general you) think there are a bunch of screaming fangirls heading south for the winter, stripping the fields of all the slash before moving on very loudly to the next....
Very disrespectful.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-16 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)'disrespectful' or not, it's pretty accurate for a LOT of slash fans. Once a new show/movie pops up and becomes more popular, a lot of fans will leave a dying fandom for greener slashier pastures.
It's not a terrible thing to want to be in a fandom that's pumping out fic or fanmixes or meta rather than cling to something's dying. It's also not terrible to remain a diehard fan of something even if the fandom output is dwindling.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-16 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)The phrase is hardly original to me. It describes the bunch of screaming fangirls who move around from one fandom to another, doing exactly the same things in each one, i.e. writing cliché-ridden paint-by-numbers stories about the prettiest white guys, turning everything into cutesy low-stakes AUs, and then moving on to the next thing that catches their eye. This is a pretty well-observed phenomenon in fandom by this point.
