I found somebody's birth certificate on Ancestry.com--not an ancestor, but a person who was important in the life of my grandmother. I've been looking for a while--it hasn't been easy because nobody, including her parents, ever seems to have spelled their surname the same way twice.

Coincidentally, I discovered that she was her mom's fourth child out of six, and the only one that lived.

Sad, but discovering anything while doing family history is cool.
