That and she DOES tend to gear up more when she's ACTUALLY on a scavenging mission. Because, as you have said, she's acclimated and adapted to her life there, which means she's probably been on scavenging missions that could have taken her a few days to do, which means going into the night and dealing with the cold.

They don't exactly have a set time frame on how long those scavengers are out. Cause, you know, most of the areas closest to the village may have already been dry of any sort of useful scraps, so, over the years, more and more people, Rey included, would have to move further out. Which means running into harsher and harsher climate. So you either adapt or die. And Rey has shown that she can adapt.
