I get angry over TK's entire career. What did this poor guy ever do to Hollywood? He's a good actor. Bad scripts. Bad marketing, executive meddling and roles being pulled away from him. (I guess it's easier to get angry about how his career is going instead of being angry at things I can't change in my life.)

For this movie, I get pissed on how far they strayed from the book. They could have just amped up the story line where he almost lost the girl out of his own stupidity, but noooo. At least, he's half naked through most of it.

*hugs TK* He's still my Gambit.

They didn't change the story so much as bring in elements from later books. The Therns, for example, were behind things all along, they just don't physically show up until book 3.

my understanding was they wanted to Franchise it before they spent so much money they didn't have a prayer of making it back. Bringing the Therns in so early and so obviously is pure Hollywood story telling where in The Princess of Mars the fact no one knew the Therns were behind things was kind of the point.

The books already had a formula, they added Hollywood formula on top of it and it didn't gel well. *winces* Especially for the John Carter character as written.

It's an adaptation. I get that. There are good ones, like Voyage of the Dawn Treader and then there is... John Carter of Mars.

Oh my god seconded. I feel like the last couple of years he's had the terrible luck of joining projects that sound good on paper (Disney blockbuster by the guy who directed Finding Nemo! Oliver Stone's latest! Leading role in the second season of a critically acclaimed TV series!) but somehow all ended up sucking. Poor dude can't catch a break.

In the words of Max Force "That dude has fucking potential but he keeps being in these really shitty movies!"

This might be my MCU fanbrat showing but I kind of hope Marvel Studios pulls a Chris Evans with him and casts him in a much better superhero movie.

AYRT

Yes please. (Fellow MCU brat)

It has gotten so bad, that my original book series, I cast him as the male romantic lead. Now, if I could find an agent, get it published and you know generate sales and interests and get Vin Diesel on board to produce.

But those are MY castles in the air. *Sigh*

I just want Marvel to keep taking actors from Fox and putting them in actually good movies. Part of the reason I'm excited for Ryan Coogler and Black Panther is because he'll hopefully bring Michael B. Jordan on board in the film as well and seeing ANOTHER human torch jump ship to the MCU would make me die laughing.

Well if you ever get that published I'll be first in line to buy a ticket opening day :P

If I could high five this comment I would. I never thought much of him until I watched Friday Night Lights a couple years ago. At first, I found myself wanting to hate his character, but eventually he became a favorite character of mine, and I love a lot of characters in the show (even Julie, though I hated her in season 2).

I find myself sitting in TK's corner, cheering him on but the poor guy just can't get the momentum he deserves.

Yes I still think of him as Gambit too!
