We had this thread really recently in the GC, and it all depends on what you classify as gore. If you're looking for something with absolutely nothing gore-like in it whatsoever then even most indie films are out, unfortunately.

If OP is okay with what I tend to call mild gore (ie. very little blood, off camera death, broken bones, no graphic torture) then there is a lot to choose from in the indie scene! However, if you're looking for something with zero blood or broken bones or disease, then it's really hard to find something modern that fits the bill. I can still think of a few things that do, of course, but it's not nearly the same as really old horror sensibilities.

I remember that thread, yeah. That was the one where the OP assumed that all or at least most horror movies had gore, even the ones made in the 1960s and earlier where that sort of thing would never have made it past the censors.

Yep lol. It was truly a different time. Other things that wouldn't have made it past the censors back then:

- movements of the mouth during onscreen kissing
- depictions of heavy blood loss that showed the actual blood
- depictions of sex between unmarried persons

Not to say that some excellent films weren't produced back then, but it was absolutely nothing like what can be shown on flim now, even with a PG rating.

Yeah I don't think it was until the late 60s when films started really pushing boundaries and the censorship board in the US stopped mattering, especially after things like Roth v. United States.

Here, I found this trailer once while trying to find the source of a sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWwTwdyiooc (bit TWy for anyone who might be reading this!)

I really like that the huge selling point here is that the film has ~sex scenes~ in it. It's always so absurdly adorable to watch old films like this since it invariably seems like a six year old's concept of something provocative and racy these days.

Thanks for sharing!
