Some people really do NOT get illness if it's not something really obvious or mainstream, for lack of a better term. Ask your boyfriend if he'd say the same thing if you had a broken leg and your family was ragging on you for needing to rest instead of running a marathon.

It'll take energy you probably don't have, but if your BF is otherwise a smart, empathetic person, it might be worth it to get across to him that he means well, but you need someone to be on your team in regards to your health. Thoughtless pep talks won't cut it and they are the opposite of helpful.
