This, and notice how when it's this discussion it's almost ALWAYS about fat people - and rarely smokers, alcoholics, or say...people who to extreme sports? Even though those have similar risks of needing more healthcare.

Hey, if you wanna go there we can go there. Same thing goes for smokers, alcoholics, drug addicts... Anyone who knowingly and consistently endangers their health for no benefit but their own. But I didn't go there because that'd be off topic from the discussion at hand.

People say that about smoking all the time. And smoking is at an all time low in the US.

I hear it about people who smoke all the time. The general prevailing attitude I've encountered is that smokers should be paying a higher premium because they're knowingly putting themselves at higher risk for health problems.

No, it is because their habit puts others at greater risk.
