That's because it wouldn't be realistic. Sad perhaps, but most people wouldn't be able to get their heads around a love interest (for example) being anything other than conventionally thin and attractive - especially if the main character is also thin and attractive.

It would be realistic. There are men, even conventionally attractive men, who are attracted to bigger women.

This seems like one of those "reality is unrealistic" things. We never see it on screen, so people get all surprised when it happens in real life.

Uh. Plenty of women that look like her are in relationships... even with people who others might consider more conventionally attractive. So I don't think 'realism' is the reason it doesn't happen more in movies/shows.

I think that's anon's point, actually - they're talking about how other people wouldn't find it realistic, which is sadly the truth.

My (conventionally handsome) friend had someone ask him if he was with his girlfriend because he got her pregnant, because they just couldn't get why he'd be with her otherwise.

Go read Runaways.

A genuinely dumb, yet goodhearted jock falls for the nerdy fat chick who is basically a genius and has a mind link with a dinosaur.

I stopped reading after...certain....events, but I will always have a soft spot for Chase and Gert.
