But a handful of them were super-nasty, lecturing her about how she had made the wrong decision because she had "failed to educate herself about fatness." The comment that took the cake came from a person named (I'll never forget this) "Meowser," who declared that weight-loss surgery was like the Holocaust would have been if the Jews had been voluntarily lining up for the Zyklon B.
This was a blog on which anyone who had said something that sounded even remotely ~privileged would have been pounced on and would never have heard the end of it. Yet somehow this comment was allowed to stand without the slightest criticism or questioning, and I suspect it's because it represented a considerable enough minority viewpoint that if a mod had pointed out how utterly appalling it was, a bunch of people would have announced that they felt unsafe.
