Well, two fans of Slender Man did try to stab a girl to death to impress Slender Man. So you might be on to something.

Yeah, that was frightening. I think people at a certain age can be really susceptible to horror stuff and particularly creepypasta stuff since it's so easily accessible. Not creepypasta's fault, but ehh.

I can imagine that creepypasta fandom would attract some of the more batshit fans out there, so this doesn't surprise me much.

I think it's proof that there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that pubescent girls won't try to turn into cute bishie boys they can crush on and ship with themselves/each other.

And occasionally try to actually murder someone over, naturally.

Do y'all make such wide statements about gender when it's boys going nuts and killing? Or is that the random poor soul who was misunderstood and didn't take his meds. For girls it's "bitches be crazy" while for boys it's poor soul, the matriarch wore him down!!1

Or am I misreading your comment here, oh gentle and thoughtful anon? 😘

Sorry, I should have specified #notallgirls. Fair is fair.

I always wonder, when I read comments on creepypastas, how many are just getting into the spirit and pretending to believe (or trolling like a motherfuck), and how many are actually that worryingly detached from reality.

:O what's your icon from?

re: your comment: alas, you can never tell...THAT'S the scary part!

A manga called March Story...I never read much past the story my icon's from, since it got licensed soon afterward (thus dropped by the scanlator) and I've never been able to find the official translation, except online, and I don't do online shopping. >_>

When I read those comments, I feel like many of them are probably young teens shitposting or exaggerating (hell knows I crushed hard on Hannibal Lecter when I was 14), but then there's those two Slenderman girls, see above, so yeah. Though tbf that only happened once.

Most people are just getting into the spirit and playing along - they know damn well that it's all fictional, they're just having fun adding to the story-web. The people who actually believe any of that shit is real are a tiny, tiny minority.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn kids. Most of these stories weren't invented all tgat long ago but they still swallow it.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-22 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
What I've come to realize about life... is people are fucking nuts.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-22 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, I get you. That person obsessing about reality? so fucking creepy.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-22 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
not really joking. I'm actually a bit shocked that all of you just jump the "kids be crazy" bandwagon. In my experience, it's the obnoxious "reality" spoilsports that are a bit crazy and try to construct their "rationality" against everyone else's perceived "crazyness", not even getting that most of it is just good old fooling around, and not interested, because it's just about them and how they'e so rational and adult.

Also, the slenderman-girls-thing? not an argument for anything. Sometimes kids do these things, and it has nothing to do with slenderman or urban myths. it can be something entirely different. The sasebo slashing had a similar setup. Children in school are in complicated little social groups that sometimes produce weird and dangerous dynamics. if additionally mental illness (one of the girls from the slenderman incident has schizophrenia, apparently) comes into the mix, things can go very wrong.

Actually BELIEF is Part Of The Rules

[personal profile] abyssal 2016-03-23 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Seeing as this is a screenshot of Reddit's NoSleep or something similar, OP should check out the rules.

Everything is "true" and you're there to play along.

Because the one REALITY asshole decides to be an ass doesn't mean that everyone eles is a creepo for shooting him down!
