Batman vs Superman: The Press Screening Spoilers.

You know the drill by now folks.
Spoilers next time

Apparently it sucks.

Its a big, bloated, mess that cannot decide what it is and only has a few cameos of the Dawn of Justice Leaguers apart from Wondy. It has all the flaws of Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel, plus Ben Affleck.

Save your bucks and get it when it goes on home release, because it is not worth the big screen admission. Maybe wait for the R-rated "Deadpool Cash-in" special edition.

Can't say I am surprised.

Nothing I didn't expect, though I can't say I was excited to begin with.

That is coming across as the general, early, feel. Too much cgi, too much scowling, too much murk. When you stack it against the recent Deadpool movie you can see how the latter zips and zings along and is done on a much smaller budget. BvS just looks dull, dumb, and bloated.

I think the superhero genre might be due some real budget tightening soon, and heaven knows it might just be exactly what the genre needs. Make more with less.

Superhero genre or DC's take? MCU seems to spend a shit ton and tehy don't have this problem (I think they pay thier actors less). not sure about what Fox/Sony spend tho.

i'm blanking on what Fox owns. There's X Men, Deadpool, F4 (heh), anything else?

If there is anything else, they've not made movies for it recently.

This might be a bit outdated but it explains it all.

Huh, I thought Universal owned film rights to the Hulk for some reason, but maybe they worked something out.

Re: Batman vs Superman: The Press Screening Spoilers.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-22 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Universal don't have veto rights to the Hulk or the rights to make a Hulk movie on their own, but due to the fucking stupid way Marvel rights were carved up in the 1990s they are entitled to a cut of any movie starring the Hulk. That doesn't apply if Hulk is part of an ensemble though. SO Universal literally get money for nothing if Marvel make another Hulk solo movie.

Which is why Marvel will never make another Hulk movie.

If it gets murdered by the critics, I will laugh all weekend. I mean, it's going to make a gazillion bucks and DC/WB will continue down this hellbound train, but I'll still laugh.

I actually really do want a successful DC line; I'm a big Marvel bitch but I grew up on Batman and the League. I'd LOVE for what they're doing to work out, but Man of Steel just proved they have no idea what to do nor how to compete with the Marvel juggernaut.

I'd love another great Batman movie. They just need to stop letting Zack Snyder do stuff. He is all flash and no substance.

He's all substance abuse you mean.

Is he the Ayn Rand cultist, or is that another film maker?

Uhhh, according to google he really likes one of her books. So maybe?

I think he is going to direct a Ayn Rand biopic?

I believe he's making 'The Fountainhead.'

More or less. I want some decent competition in the superhero marketplace that isn't Marvel studios vs Marvel Properties owned by Sony and Fox. I enjoy the concept of a darker superhero movie, but this seems to be more "Put it all in at once or people won't see the rest!"

They did it ass backwards. I get they don't want to look like Marvel copy cats, but it is sort of the process that makes the most sense.

Has anyone before Marvel done something like that? Done individual movies then bring them all together for a big movie?

Not as I'm aware off the top of my head, I think it was strictly print media that managed this. Not necessarily just comics, though.

The only one that might work are the older Godzilla movies? Some of those appeared in their own movies then would fight or work with Godzilla later.

I actually grew up with Superman and Batman. They were my favorite superheroes. But Marvel just has done a better job with their movies. The DCU clearly has no idea what it is doing.
